Framingham Foundries

The Framingham Foundries was organized in 1919 and located at the former Ames Plow Co of Framingham,MA. It comprised the foundry operations that were moved out of Hyde Park when F bldg was converted to a large fan shop.

It wasn't just an internal division serving the needs of Sturtevant but was an actual business providing gray iron castings to a wide variety of companies, regional and beyond. The 1935 production data gives a good read on the size of that business. That year they poured more than 10 million lbs of metal from which they shipped 6 million lbs of good castings to all customers, including B.F.Sturtevant.

In 1942, the Niles-Bement-Pond company acquired a half interest in Framingham Foundries. They already had an existing relation through their Pratt&Whitney aircraft engine division. In 1944, Sturtevant's ownership ended with the sale of the foundry to Draper Corp. of Hopedale, MA.
